Surge is an 11 piece band made up of great young Birmingham musicians that play Sid Peacock's weird and wonderful multi-genre compositions. High energy, highly original and slightly mad.

Their concert includes a rare opportunity to hear one of Philip Glass's most definitive early pieces, Music with Changing Parts - following on from their sold out concert last summer at the Almeida Theatre, Icebreaker give only the 2nd public performance in 30 years. The concert also includes music by Zappa and Nancarrow, with recent pieces by John Godfrey, Joe Hughes plus Erik Bnger's original take on That's the Way I Like It by KC & the Sunshine Band
Icebreaker's Michael-Nyman-on-amphetamines approach brings out the furious precision of the music.

Colin Riley's new band MooV with Olivia Chaney (voice) and Howie Bailey (VJ artist), recently described in the press as performing 'sassy and sophisticated new music' defies categorization. Subdued lyricism and subtle, unpredictable melodies combine with electronic tintinnabulation and spare, yet complex instrumental soundscapes. Performing material from their forthcoming debut album, the ensemble blur all the edges of contemporary music mixing in state-of-the art visual presentations and an essential amount of improvisation.
'There are many intelligent musicians whose work defies casual categorization. The composer Colin Riley is one such musician.'

Romania - politics, place and stories - form the inspiration for this new work devised by Alex Balenescu and singer Ada Milea, one of the most fascinating and radical artists working in Romania today. Sharing similar feelings about the new society in eastern Europe, and the role of music and musical theatre in contributing to its development, this fascinating new work will be comprised of songs both in English and Romanian with instrumental music and visuals based on the poetic imagery.
